“It was not just paying school fees. It was investing in our future.”

I come from a vulnerable family in rural Rwanda, where paying school fees was a constant worry. I wanted to study and build a better future, but without support, even finishing secondary school felt out of reach.

In 2020, Forward Africa Education Trust began paying my tuition. It lifted a heavy burden from my family, and it gave me hope. I studied History, Economics and Geography at G.S. St Aloys in Rwamagana, and took part in FAET’s annual workshops and its 2022 mentorship programme. I learned the value of hard work, patience and gratitude, and that my background does not have to limit my future.

Today I have secured a place at the University of Genoa in Italy. There are still financial and administrative hurdles to clear, but I remain hopeful. My goal is to become an entrepreneur, create jobs, and contribute to my community and to Africa.

To everyone at FAET: thank you for believing in me. This was not just paying school fees. It was investing in the future of young men and women like me. To other young people facing hard times: stay hopeful and never give up. One day I hope to support others, just as FAET supported me.
